Do you run beginners classes?
Yes we run classes for beginners on Thursdays at 6.30pm. This is an ideal introduction to BJJ concentrating on techniques and protocol with only light sparring. This class can be attended for free if it’s your first time at the club.
We run basics classes on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6.30-7.45 pm and Fridays at 7.45-9.30 pm. Our lunchtime BJJ classes (Monday to Thursday 12-1.30 pm) are also suitable for all levels.
As usual, beginners and White belts are welcome at ANY Carlson Gracie class but we recommend attending the beginners and basics class first.

What will happen in a class?
Most classes consist of a warm up followed by some techniques then some sparring.
What is sparring?
No kicking or punching (BJJ), students try to use the grappling techniques they have learnt against a fully resisting opponent. Students must never try and hurt each other, techniques must be applied with control and as soon as your opponent submits (taps) he must be released. In Muay Thai sparring is optional and varies from very light to full contact.
Is there a self-defence class?
All the martial arts taught at Carlson Gracie London will assist you in defending yourself. You will learn how to fight through hard training, not a three day course.
Is there a Women’s class?
Yes, we run a Women only BJJ class on Saturday mornings at 11 am taught by championship winning purple belt Sarah Merriner.
We also run a Women only Thai Boxing class on Monday at 10am with Attila Varga.
It all looks very scary, how do I start?
Just walk in and start training, everyone is friendly and helpful and we all started by just walking through the door.
